Lockett lands No. 1

Jonathan Lockett could see his recruitment pick up soon especially after the cornerback from Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei recently picked up his first offer.
The 5-foot-10, 150-pound prospect who had a solid junior season visited Washington last weekend for its junior day and he picked up his first offer from the Huskies.

Lockett spent time with Washington defensive back Brandon Beaver and he also knows quarterback signee Troy Williams so there is familiarity with the Huskies.
Plus, Lockett said, he had a great time seeing the new facilities and the campus.
"I went up to their junior day and I went to check out the campus and they really liked me and decided to offer me," Lockett said.
"It was good. I know a couple players that are already enrolled at Washington so they showed me around the campus and the new stuff they're building so I really liked it."
As for other programs, many have reached out to the Mater Dei standout and he said USC has been one of them.
The Trojans were involved earlier in his recruitment and have apparently shown up again as Lockett's off-season continues.
He admits an offer from USC would be a major deal.
"I've been getting e-mails and my coach has been telling me all the interest that's coming in," Lockett said. "USC is starting to get back into it. They're sending me letters and e-mails and that's about it so far.
"That would be a huge offer. I would say if they offered I would get deeper into it and I'll see where it takes me."
Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, UCLA and other Pac-12 schools are also involved in his recruitment.
