LAS VEGAS Scholarship offers have come in quickly for Phoenix (Ariz.) Mountain Ridge kicker Jeff Locke.
At the Fifth Annual National Kicking and Snapping Spring Event, Locke drew praise for his abilities. Instructor Chris Sailer spoke highly of Locke after the camp and the talented kicker showed why he's added early offers from several schools.
"Jeff Locke was by far the biggest surprise of the camp," Sailer said. "Being able to be one of the top five kickers in the country here and then be one of the top two or three punters in the country here is something. He's the best combination of both."
Locke has gathered scholarship offers from San Diego State, Wisconsin, and Washington State so far. Though he says he's not favoring anyone early, he's heard quite a bit about Wisconsin recently.
"I have some friends that have been up there and they told me how great it is," Locke said about Wisconsin. "So Wisconsin is up there on my list."
Locke says he plans to take some official visits this fall before making a decision. He says that he plans to also visit all three schools this summer. He plans to visit both Washington State and Wisconsin at some point.
Also a receiver, he'll visit San Diego State when he goes with his high school teammates for a passing league.
As a junior, Locke averaged 43 yards per punt, 83 percent of his kickoffs went for touchbacks, and he had a field goal long of 48 yards.
