Location helping Rutgers with Singleton

Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep safety D.J. Singleton is one of the Garden State's most coveted prospects and he has the offer list to prove it.
While Singleton isn't ready to put his official visits on the calendar he recently announced that five schools were ahead of the field.

"Michigan State, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Miami and Tennessee are my top five," Singleton said, echoing previous comments he has already made.
"All of them are very similar. They're keeping in touch with me and sending me a lot of mail, just making sure I'm okay. They're staying in contact with me, not just offering and hoping I commit. They're actually trying to talk to me.
"Even though I have a top five that can change so I'm not positive where I want to go (for official visits)."
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound safety admits that Rutgers has one important advantage.
"Location is a factor," he noted. "I talked to my dad about it and it's a family decision because they want to be able to see me play. I would say that is an advantage for Rutgers."
Singleton will be taking all five officials so other schools will have plenty of opportunities to make their case.
The three-star safety is ranked the No. 21 prospect in New Jersey.
