Local TE visits NC State

Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook tight end Greg Schammel made the short trip to North Carolina State on Sunday. The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder attended the Wolfpack junior day and was intrigued.
"I was really impressed with the visit," he said. "I got there and toured all their facilities, the campus and since it was a junior recruiting day they gave us a lot of information. I also got to talk to my position coach, Jim Bridge and briefly with Tom O'Brien.

"Coach Bridge is a pretty cool guy. I like how he treats his tight ends and refers to them as a weapon on the field. As for coach O'Brien, I just got talk to him for a minute."
A week ago, Schammel visited another in-state school in East Carolina.
"That was pretty nice too," he said. "It was more informative and the main focus there was on academics."
A handful of other schools including Duke, Virginia and Georgia Tech have taken an interest in the tight end prospect. Does he have any favorites?
"I'm not really sure," he stated. "I do like ECU and NC State, but it's early.
"In college, I want to get a degree in something science related. I also want football to hopefully pay for my education and have some fun. As far as location, I'd rather be close to home so my family can come to games."
