Local School Leads for Georgia WR Jaquavious Lane

THE LATEST: Jaquavious Lane is a speedy wide receiver out of Loganville (Ga.) Grayson. The 5-foot-11, 172 pound playmaker put his name on the map with big plays in the state championship game and his recruitment has really picked up the last six weeks.

Arkansas State, Ball State, Boston College, Georgia State, Syracuse, Troy and UCF have offered Lane. Colorado, Georgia Southern and West Virginia are schools who could be next to offer. Lane is in regular contact with coaches from each of those schools among others.

It is a school less than an hour from his home that has his attention early.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "Georgia State is a school who really stands out to me right now," said Lane. "I talk to them almost every day, they are really recruiting me hard and I like them.

"I have been talking with coach [Trent] McKnight (wide receivers), coach [Chris] Collins (safeties) and coach [Travis] Trickett, the offensive coordinator. All of them have good things to say, they all want me there and I enjoy talking with them.

"I really want to get down there soon. I have heard some good things about the new coaches because a couple of my teammates signed there in 2017. I would like to go see how I feel down there."

ON HIS COMMITMENT: "I ave been thinking about weighing my options, taking some visits this spring and in then summer, then committing before the season starts," said Lane.

"I still could take all of my official visits. That is something I would like to do. I will be looking for a school to get a good education and then play for a good program that is not too far from home."

RIVALS REACTION: Jalen Jackson and Steven Banks are two former teammates and friends of Lane's that are headed to Georgia State, so that gives them an edge. He wants to feel needed and the Panther coaches have done an excellent job recruiting him. He is likely going to add some offers this spring with coaches expected at Grayson daily with all of the talent the Rams have, so that is something to monitor to see if new offers have an affect on his favorites.
