Local LB Smith visits PSU

Penn State continues to monitor local linebackers and one such prospect is 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker Brandon Smith. The Lewisburg, Pa. prospect made the trip to State College last night for the Nittany Lions battle with Ohio State.
"It was a good trip," he said. "There were a lot of kids there compared to usual. I ran into Coach Vanderlinden while I was in line for food. I talked to him there for a bit and then he came and talked to us at our table. Then, I talked to Coach McWhorter. For about five to seven minutes.

"Coach Vanderlinden kept saying things like hopefully you'll get there and if I decide to come there, they look for me to be playing early. I haven't heard many details about offers. He just told me to keep sending film of my games and he'll be staying in touch. He's been staying in touch regularly."
Regarding the game itself, Smith enjoyed it.
"It was a good game, especially the first half, it was exciting," he said. "They shot themselves in the foot with penalties, but overall it was a good game to watch. The crowd level was amazing and you could definitely feel more excitement at this game."
So far this fall, Smith has been to Bucknell, Lehigh and Princeton as well. He plans to head to Penn soon.
On the year, Smith has helped his team to a 7-2 record as he posted five touchdowns including a pick six on Friday.
"I think I'm having a good year," he said. "I'm a lot bigger than last year. I was 195-pounds last season and now I'm around 215. It definitely has helped me. I've got about 120 or 130 tackles this season."
