Lobos land three-star RB

The New Mexico Lobos scored a huge verbal commitment when the Gatorade New Mexico State Player of the Year committed to Lobo head coach Rocky Long.
The player in question is running back/defensive back/linebacker Mike Love (6-0, 210, 4.6) from Rio Rancho, N.M.

"The number one reason that I think Mike chose New Mexico is because it is close to home," Rio Rancho coach Phil Lopez said. "Rocky (Lobo coach Rocky Long) has done a nice job with the program ever since he took over and has gone to quite a few bowl games."
"Another thing that may have helped is the graduation of Lobo running back Dontrell Moore," Lopez said. "The Lobos receive a good one here."
"Miami called and asked for film on Mike," Lopez said. "But he decided in the end to stay home and play for the Lobos."
New Mexico State, UTEP and Boise State were also recruiting Love.
Love rushed for 1,954 yards and scored 25 touchdowns as a senior.
The Lobos land arguably the top prospect from New Mexico out of the class of 2006.
