Lobos land local hero

The New Mexico Lobos received the verbal committal of one of the state’s best overall prospects and possible the State of Enchantments best running back in Rodney Ferguson (6-0, 204, 4.5) from Albuquerque (N.M.) Manzano. This is a good get for the Lobos.
For the Lobos to step it up to the next level the program growth keeping the majority of the best in-state players at home is must.

The Lobos went far in accomplishing this goal with Ferguson’s pledge.
The last time the Lobos kept the best running back prospect in-state at home was sophomore Dontrell Moore. All Moore did is set the school single season rushing record with 1,438 yards.
It looks like the Lobos have struck in-state pay dirt again.
Ferguson is a back who has the power and speed to be successful on the next level. He led the state of New Mexico in rushing with 1,858 and scored 20 touchdowns.
The Lobos get a player who is a three-time all-metro selection and was selected City Player of the Year.
The Lobos landed the services over archrival New Mexico State who also offered. Texas Tech and Washington also showed interest in the big powerful running back from Albuquerque.
