Lipscomb breaks it down

Houston (Texas) Cypress Ridge High School is blessed with a special 2009 class.
They are headlined by Rivals100 quarterback Russell Shepard, but running back Hasan Lipscomb is a close second.

The pair visited LSU's junior day last weekend and came away impressed. Surprisingly it was Shepard who was close to committing, not Lipscomb who grew up in New Orleans.
"We both came away really excited from our visit," Lipscomb said. "Russell was real close to committing. He was really impressed. I was too, but we aren't going to make a commitment anytime soon. We really want to keep the scouts coming to our school to see some of our other teammates.
"LSU is my No. 1 school, but you never know what can happen," he said. "There are some very good programs out there that can get you to the league."
Lipscomb also holds offers from Texas A&M and Minnesota to date, and is receiving sincere interest from Alabama and Oklahoma.
"I'm looking at a lot of depth charts right now," he said. "LSU seems pretty deep right now, but the time I get there it might be cleared out a little bit. I heard I've been offered by Alabama, but I haven't seen any paperwork yet."
Lipscomb has been politicking for teammates Princeton Jackson, John Gandy and sophomore receiver Kevin Johnson.
"Princeton is really overlooked," he said. "He's a great reader at linebacker and is really physical. Gandy is getting stronger at defensive line and Kevin is going to be the primary receiver. He's got good size and speed.
"Watch out for Russell throwing the ball this year," he said. "He wants to prove to everyone that he's a quarterback. He will be much more of a passer this season."
