Linton doubles his offers

Offers are mounting for Charlotte (N.C.) Christian linebacker Ty Linton. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder is already up to four scholarships adding two more from BCS schools in the past few days. Who are the latest offers?
"I had offers from Miami (Ohio) and Wisconsin and Duke and West Virginia offered me recently," he said. "Duke offered Thursday and West Virginia was recent too. I like West Virginia because they run a 3-5 defense. That's kind of what we run here. I also like the role they have me in as a safety/linebacker. I can be a linebacker and drop back into coverage. I like that a lot.

"As for Duke, I like the academics."
Linton plans to start visiting schools very soon.
"Actually, I'm going down to Clemson on the 13th and I'm going to meet with the baseball and football coaches. I'm planning to go to Duke on the 22nd and I'm trying to get to West Virginia for the junior day coming up in a month or so. In the spring I plan to go to Wisconsin.
"Right now I'm definitely thinking I want a decision before my senior year, probably near the end of the summer."
With a number of visits coming up, what does Linton want to see?
"I just want to meet the coaches and check out the athletic facilities, stuff like that."
Numerous other colleges including Clemson, South Carolina, Virginia and Vanderbilt are also showing interest.
One important factor that may be in play for the Carolina prospect is his baseball future as well.
"I'm a centerfielder and Clemson and South Carolina are probably my top two for baseball," he said. "Clemson is telling me I'm the No. 1 outfielder in the country and South Carolina intrigues me since they are building a new stadium.
"I really want to see if it's a possibility to do both sports and if it is I'd like to play for a good baseball team."
