Linthicum up to eight offers

Charlottesville (Va.) St. Anne's-Belfield tight end Brian Linthicum is up to eight offers. With an expected decision sometime this summer, does the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder have any early favorites?
"He's not really favoring anyone," St. Anne's-Belfield head coach John Blake said. "I don't think he'll really name favorites until he goes and sees some of these schools at the end of May and throughout June to get a better idea of what he likes. Then he'll start narrowing his list down and I believe he'll be making a decision in July. I know that's what he's aiming for and he wants to know where he's going before the season."

Linthicum holds offers from Virginia Tech, Colorado, Clemson, Purdue, Boston College, Connecticut, Michigan State and Syracuse. Is anyone else close to offering?
"I know both Virginia and Ohio State are very interested and could possibly offer sometime soon."
Obviously coaches see something in Linthicum, what makes him stand out as a player?
"Obviously he has tremendous size, but I think he has a great motor too," he said. "He also has great hands as a receiver and is a very intense kid that doesn't stop. He is aggressive when he gets out on the field and is also a wonderful kid to be around. Brian is very intelligent and a great all-around young man.
"I think whoever gets him will get a great athlete that is a hard worker and wants to be a very good player. I know lots of kids think that, but he is the type of guy that will do the little things to get better."
The all-state prospect plans to attend a few camps this summer including ones at Ohio State, Michigan State and Boston College.
