Lineman joins brothers at VTech

Virginia Tech landed just their third in-state recruit of the season in Beau Warren from Clifton (Va.) Centreville. The 6-foot-4, 250-pounder decided to stick with his older brothers Blake and Brett at Virginia Tech over offers from Vanderbilt and Syracuse.
"I told my brothers I committed to Tech and they were really excited," he said. "I think it's pretty cool to play at the same school with them. It'll make my parents really like Tech a lot because all three of us are there now. It's cool, I've also got brothers I can talk to whenever I want at Tech no matter what."

What finally made the No. 22 prospect in Virginia come to Blacksburg?
"I just had a little hunch that I was leaning towards them, but I realized I'm a lot more comfortable there," he said. "I like the whole atmosphere of the entire campus. I like the fact that it's close to home. I think the coaches and football staff are awesome. Coach Ward is my recruiting coach and I like him a lot.
"I also like that they have a good reputation as a school. I know they have a lot of majors there and I did want to major in astronomy, but I don't think they have it. I'm also looking at something in law enforcement or civil service."
The future offensive tackle for the Hokies is glad to have a decision behind him.
"I feel really relieved, the stress is all gone now and I'm just relaxed," he said. "I really didn't want to get hurt and then have all the offers off the table."
Now Warren can focus on the upcoming season.
"I'm probably going to try to gain some weight this year," he said. "I want to get around 265-pounds before I get there. I also want to keep my hands inside for blocking and be sure my technique is perfect.
"I feel I have good technique and skill on the line and I can bring that to Virginia Tech. I hope to also bring a bit of my leadership too."
The No. 8 commitment for the Hokies had a final word to say to friends, family and fans.
"I just want to thank all those that supported me throughout the recruiting process."
Warren plans to attend most of the Virginia Tech home games this season. He should easily qualify with a solid 3.4 GPA.
The prospect was also named all-district as a junior last season.
