Lineman has the right stuff

You can never have enough offensive linemen who have size and quickness that is why Avery Poates (6-4, 305, 5.2) from Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde is beginning to catch the eye of several D-I schools.
"All the usual suspects are showing interest in Avery," Rancho Verde Coach Pete Duffy said. "I think he will be an early offer guy and is a Pac 10 level player."

The usual suspects are Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, USC, Colorado and Nebraska.
"Avery is a really good student on and off the field," Duffy said. "He's very young, he's only 16 and just coming into his own."
"Avery started school early and I'm convinced that if was in his proper grade, he would have started out of the box with a high ranking," Duffy said. "He was extremely smart and his parents thought he could do the work so they entered him school early."
"Avery has all the things that D-I schools like," Duffy said. "He has excellent speed and quickness for a young man his size. He can really run and move. His long arms are also an asset. His best days as a football player are ahead of him."
In the weight room, Poates has a current bench of 315, squats 385 and power cleans 265.
Poates earned all-league for his junior season performance.
