Lineman emerges from Astronaut

After sending defensive end Rufus Williams to the University of Tennessee in the Class of 2007, another major Division I-A prospect is on the horizon for the Class of 2008 at Astronaut High in Titusville, Fla.
Offensive lineman Jimmy Brantley has been getting attention from a number of programs.

"Recruiting is going pretty good," he said. "I have a couple of schools looking at me, but no offers yet. But the letters seem pretty good."
The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder has his eye on two in-state programs at the moment.
"The two schools I want to go to are UCF or the University of Florida," Brantley said.
He has family ties to the Golden Knights.
"I've always liked UCF," he said. "My dad, my uncle and several other members of my family went to school there, so I've just always liked it."
Florida has long been a program that Brantley admired.
"I've always been a Gator fan," he said. "It's always been a dream of mine to go there and play football."
Several aspects of Brantley's game lead him to believe that he is a high-level Division I-A prospect.
"I have good leadership skills and I love to lead the offensive line," he said.
Brantley plans to attend the Down N Dirty lineman camp for the state of Florida this summer. He attended the Rivals.com Tampa Bay Junior Day on Feb. 17 at Countryside High School in Clearwater, Fla.
