Position: Linebacker/Athlete
Size and Speed: Williams stands 6-foot-0, weighs 240 pounds and runs the 40 in 4.53. He can really motor for a big man. Williams was timed in the 100 at 10.89 electronically and he benches 270 pounds.
Honors: Though Williams was hampered with a deep thigh bruise last season and missed some early games. He still impressed enough to garner all-league honors.
Statistics: Williams was very productive as a junior racking up 87 tackles in roughly eight games.
Favorite Colleges: Williams has already heard from UCLA, USC, Oregon, Washington, Michigan, Colorado, Tennessee and North Carolina. Williams has no favorites in the early going. “I’m keeping my options open,” Williams said. Williams has offers from UCLA, USC and Washington. Those three offers are the first of many to come.
Skinny: Keep your eyes on Worrell Williams. He has tremendous bloodlines. His brother is Miami Hurricane starting linebacker D.J. Williams formerly of Concord (Calif.) De la Salle.
“Worrell will be a national recruit,” Grant head coach Mike Alberghini said. “We are expecting big things out of him this fall.”
“Worrell is big, strong and fast,” Alberghini said. “He has great closing speed for a linebacker and he’s excellent in space.”
Like his brother D.J., Worrell is also a tremendous athlete who brings a lot of things to the table. He has played linebacker, running back and he even did a nice job at quarterback for the last two games of the 2002 season.
The scouting report on Williams is he has great vision and gets to the football in a hurry. He is also a very sure tackler. Though Williams plays several positions, he projects as a linebacker.
Williams plays for one of Northern California’s best talent factories and does a nice job producing players for the next level. Williams is one of three players on this year’s Grant team with the skills to go D-I.
