Junior to Watch: Ryan Phipps
School: Corona (Calif.) Centennial

Position: Linebacker.
Size and Speed: Phipps stands 6-foot-0 and weighs in at 210 pounds. He has been times in the forty at 4.5. He has good strength with a 300-pound bench, cleans 325 and he has a squat of 455. Phipps has recorded an impressive 34 vertical jump. A very intelligent young man, Phipps carries a 3.9 GPA.
Honors: As a junior Phipps was selected first-team all-league, first-team all-area and was a second-team all-county selection.
Statistics: Phipps led Centennial in tackles accounting for 172. He also had 11 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, three fumbles recovered, three sacks and two interceptions. Phipps returned one of his picks back for a touchdown.
Favorite Colleges: Phipps already has an offer from Hawaii and he is receiving recruiting interest from Stanford, Washington, Oregon and Arizona State.
Skinny: “Ryan has an outstanding work ethic,” Centennial head coach said Matt Logan. “He is a weight room fanatic. He built like a Grecian statue and he never misses a work out.”
“Ryan is a lot like Oregon Duck linebacker Kevin Mitchell but faster,” Logan said. “He is relentless in pursuit and never gives up on a play. He plays hard all the time.”
“Ryan has great speed and knows how to use it,” Logan said.
“Ryan was a flat out great kid,” Logan said. “He the type of kid you want on your team. Ryan will do whatever you want him to do at anytime.”
