Liggins feels at home in Starkville

Mississippi State landed a commitment from two-star weakside defensive end Darius Liggins out of Oxford (Miss.) Lafayette on Saturday.
There was no fancy press conference or a TV spectacle with different hats lined up.

Liggins simply picked up the phone and called Coach Dan Mullen and assistant coach Deshea Townsend.
Last fall, the rising senior had 97 tackles and eight sacks. With recruiting out of the way, he is hoping to build upon his sack total.
"For me, this was a dream come true. I have a chance to play in the SEC and I felt at home with State. I have a strong bond with Coach Townsend. They were the first school on me and I'm happy to be a part of the program," Liggins said.
Now that he is a Bulldog, he plans on turning his attention to playing the role of recruiter.
There are a pair of players he is targeting out of junior college.
He is planning to recruit Xavier Pegues and Jeremy Liggins. If the latter sounds familiar, it is. Darius is Jeremy's cousin, and while it appears Jeremy might be headed to Ole Miss, that won't dissuade Darius from doing his best to entice Jeremy.
"It would be great to play with him, but it's his decision," Darius Liggins said. "Just like how I made my decision to head to Starkville with Ole Miss located here. There was some pressure from people about the Rebels. However, it's my choice and I had to do what was best."
Mississippi State had 10 commitments for the Class of 2014 with six coming from in state out of the prep ranks.
