Lewter claims top five

Offensive tackle Jamar Lewter out of Washington (D.C.) Ballou claims a top five at this point. The 6-foot-8, 280-pounder hasn't taken any visits this summer yet, but plans to in the near future.
"I'm planning to go to Maryland, North Carolina, Auburn, Miami, Rutgers and Illinois," he said. "I'm going to try to make every one of the offers I can or at least as many as possible."

Lewter confirmed a top five at this time, but maintains it's flexible.
"I got a top five, it was hard but I did it," he said. "That list includes North Carolina, Auburn, Illinois, Maryland and Pittsburgh.
"To be honest, they were the schools keeping in touch with me the most. They are calling regularly and I'm just thinking about those schools. I don't know if the list could change, but there is a possibility it could."
Of the list, North Carolina stands out from the group.
"My favorite is North Carolina," he said. "I like their program, especially my position coach, Coach Pittman. He's a funny guy that stays in touch with me a lot, he writes me letters and makes me fall in love with North Carolina the more and more I talk to him. I could see myself there."
While offers have mounted, Lewter is still holding out hope on a couple more schools to pull the trigger.
"Penn State and Virginia Tech are two schools I'd like to get an offer from," he said. "I went to a Penn State game last year and it was crazy. I really did like that and Coach Larry Johnson has been in touch with me.
"With Virginia Tech, I haven't really heard from them. I've heard from everybody in the ACC except Tech, but I grew up in Blacksburg."
The three-star lineman expects the decision to at least drag early into the season.
