Lewis surprises with FSU pick

The last few days have been a roller coaster ride for Rivals100 defensive back Marcus Lewis and Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga star threw everyone through a loop on National Signing Day picking Florida State over Kentucky and Miami.
"It's just a great opportunity for me just to play on the stage," said the 6-foot, 194-pound Lewis. "Florida State is going to be competing for national championships for a long time. There are some great players down there and they have a great class."

This sudden change of heart caught everybody off guard but Lewis feels confident about his decision.
"They recruited me hard my junior year but when I committed to Florida they backed off," he said. "Ever since last week coach Fisher and coach Kelly have been recruiting me very hard again. They only had one cornerback committed and I'm just excited."
People might think Lewis is unfamiliar with the Seminole coaching staff but that isn't the case.
"Our relationship has been pretty strong," Lewis said. "When we visited back in the spring my mom loved coach Fisher. He is a straight up guy and he is going to tell you the truth. After talking with him over the last few days I feel like he has been a real guy. With coach Kelly he is going to my cornerback coach but he's also the defensive coordinator. He's going to teach me a lot and he controls the snaps so I need to do what I need to do. I also have a relationship with coach Lawing. He recruited me a Florida."
Lewis, an Under Armour All-American, has previously been committed to Virginia Tech and Florida.
