Lewis looking to leave VA

Hampton (Va.) Phoebus running back Elan Lewis is one of the top prospects in the state of Virginia for 2005. Lewis, who now has eight scholarship, was once thought to be an in-state lock. Is that still the case for the talented running back?
"I am not necessarily looking to leave the state of Virginia, but distance will no longer play a factor in my decision. It is every kid's dream to play for the Miami's and Florida State's of college football, so when it comes to division one power like those two, distance means nothing," said the 5-foot-8, 215-pound back who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.
Lewis now holds eight scholarship offers.
"I have offers from Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, North Carolina, and Syracuse. Nebraska, Ohio State, Florida State, and Miami are also showing interest in me."
Does Lewis have a favorite?
"They are equal at this point. Maybe sometime around the start of the season I will narrow it down to five schools but I am not ready to do that yet."
What schools has Lewis visited this spring?
"I have only been to Virginia Tech this spring. It was a good visit and I had a great time. I am going to try to get to Virginia for their junior day this weekend. I would also like to visit both Tennessee and Maryland."
Lewis, who rushed for over 2,400 yards and 40 touchdowns said he plans to announce on Signing Day.
