Hialeah (Fla.) Miami Lakes quarterback Thaddeus Lewis made an official visit to South Florida during the weekend and was impressed.
"It was a good visit," Lewis said. "I spoke with (Bulls head coach Jim Leavitt and they are in need of a quarterback.
"I really like that situation."
Former Miami Lakes standout Patrick St. Louis was Lewis' player host during his trip to the Tampa campus.
"I like him," Lewis said. "He was my old teammate from high school."
The proximity of South Florida to his home, along with the Bulls BCS conference affiliation, was very appealing to Lewis, the nation's No. 10 dual-threat quarterback prospect.
"It's close to home and they play in the Big East," he said.
The facilities and atmosphere at South Florida also were intriguing.
"They have great facilities," Lewis said. "It was a great atmosphere with the players and coaches."
Lewis has previously visited Pittsburgh (Dec. 2) and TCU (Dec. 16). He is scheduled to visit Duke next weekend.
Lewis is a high three-star rated prospect according to Rivals.com. Bulls offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Rod Smith is Lewis' South Florida recruiter of record.
