Position: Defensive Back
Size and speed: Lewis is 6-feet tall and weighs 175 pounds. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.
Statistics: As a junior, he recorded 42 tackles and three interceptions.
Honors: Was selected all-region at cornerback as a junior.
Favorite Schools: Wake Forest, North Carolina, Duke, Louisville, Memphis.
Skinny: Lewis currently holds “sleeper” status in the Peach State, but is a prospect to keep an eye on as he approaches his senior season.
“Jamal has the size and the instincts to play D-I football,” said Jonesboro coach Tommy Webb. “He’s not a blazer, speed-wise, but he really breaks on the ball well and puts himself in a position to make plays. Folks didn’t throw at him very much last year. They showed him a lot of respect.
“I think if he has a good senior season, he’s going to really rise up on a lot of the recruiting lists.”
Lewis has received early attention from Wake Forest, Duke, North Carolina, Louisville and Memphis.
“He’s got a 3.4 GPA and he should do well on his ACT,” Webb said. “He’s a good all-around student-athlete.”
Lewis has yet to decide which camps he may be attending.
