Lewerke pulls in second offer

He'll compare and contrast what he knows about the schools without much problem, but 2015 quarterback Brian Lewerke has no desire to choose a favorite between UCLA and Arizona State. There's no point, really.
The Sun Devils and Bruins represent Lewerke's first two scholarship offers. He says everything a high school prospect is supposed to say about each. He lets the clichés fly effortlessly. Still, there's next to no chance his offer list will end with just two programs. So naming a frontrunner more than a full year before he signs a letter of intent seems like a waste of time.

The Phoenix (Ariz.) Pinnacle standout will have more options to consider down the road - options that could change everything. For now, though he's inspecting the two schools that have already pulled the trigger. Even if he won't say which he likes best, each has its perks.
"Obviously ASU is closer," Lewerke said. "ASU and UCLA kind of run the same offense a little bit. ASU is more of an option team than UCLA, but I don't really have a favorite. They are on the same playing field right now."
The offer from the Bruins, which arrived on Sunday, is obviously freshest in his mind even if it didn't come with much shock value.
"I wasn't really surprised too much by the offer," Lewerke said. "[UCLA assistant] Noel Mazzone was at one of our playoff games, and he was impressed. We had been talking on the phone a little bit, so it wasn't a huge surprise.
"I really like them. Their team is young and still growing. I like the campus. The weather in California is obviously beautiful year round."
Lewerke has visited UCLA twice in the past and expects to check out Westwood for a third time sometime this summer. For now, though, the only trip on the docket is a short one to Arizona State for the Sun Devils' upcoming game with in-state rival Arizona.
Coaches from Duke have been in contact recently, but Lewerke declines to speculate how close the Blue Devils may be to extending a scholarship offer.
