When it came time to make a decision Richardson (Texas) Berkner offensive guard Josh LeRibeus looked into the future. He sat down and talked to his mother and asked himself where he saw himself five years from now.
The answer was in Dallas. So it make it an easier decision for him to go ahead and commit to SMU, which is exactly what he did about 30 minutes ago after an unofficial visit to the Mustangs' campus.
"We just left there about 30 minutes ago, and we talked to Phil Bennett and Jim Gush," LeRibeus said. "I told them I was committing, and they were really excited.
"My mom and I have been talking about it for two months. They have a great education, they're in that great conference, and I think coach Bennett can help them win it really soon. I also thought about where I wanted to be five years from now and the answer was easy. I wanted to be in Dallas."
And he wanted to be a Mustang.
LeRibeus, who is 6-foot-3 and 321 pounds, also had scholarship offers from Baylor, Boston College, Colorado State, Houston and Stanford. Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech were also very interested in him, and he'll likely be one of SMU's most heavily recruited and highest ranked recruits in the class of 2007.
"I just fell in love with SMU, the coaches and the school," he said. "It was the right fit for me and the right decision."
LeRibeus was a first-team all-district and all-state selection as a junior.
