Lenehan pulls the trigger

Toledo added their quarterback of the future this past weekend when they received a commitment from Easton (Pa.) Wilson Area quarterback D.J. Lenehan. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder selected the Rockets over offers from Temple, Buffalo, Albany and Massachusetts.
"I committed to Toledo on Sunday," he said. "I was up there on an official visit. Toledo and told the coaches."

What made Lenehan pull the trigger for Toledo?
"Toledo was my top choice since the beginning and the trip there really exceeded all my expectations," he said. "I got out there and everything went well. The offense is sort of similar to what I ran in high school and everything clicked for me.
"It wasn't just the place though, I also like the history there in the MAC and the coaching staff. They are doing a wonderful job trying to continue that success. I like coach Shannon a lot. I think he can get me to my potential."
As far as playing time, the two-star prospect will redshirt his freshman year.
"The coaches have already told me I'm going to redshirt," he said. "Then my second year I'll probably compete for second string and anything can happen from there."
Last season Lenehan threw for 3,100 yards and rushed for 800 while leading Wilson Area to a state championship. He totaled 34 touchdowns to just nine interceptions.
