Leininger hitting the road

Fruit Cove (Fla.) Bartram Trail kicker Cole Leininger hit the road this weekend to check out an out-of-state school.
"I visited Georgia Southern this weekend," Leininger said.
While on campus for his unofficial visit, the 6-foot-2, 195-pound special teams prospect got a chance to speak with Jeff Monken and his staff.
"They said they are looking for a punter and that they really like me," Leininger said. "They want to get me back up there for another visit to see the campus and not just the football aspect of it. They just told me they are really interested and to keep in touch each week."
He enjoyed his time inside Paulson Stadium for the 28-27 victory over Chattanooga.
"It was a pretty good atmosphere for the size of the stadium," Leininger said.
As for returning for an official visit, that is likely to happen as the Eagles continue to evaluate him.
"They are looking at me as an offer candidate," Leininger said. "They are just going to watch the rest of my season play out and get me back up there and go from there."
Before he returns to Georgia Southern, he is planning to take a few other visits.
"Next I am going to Western Kentucky, on the 22nd (of October)," Leininger said. "Then I am going to Alabama on November 5th and the University of California on November 12th for an official visit."
At this time, the Sunshine State prospect doesn't claim a leader.
"I want to take my trips and I will figure it out after that," Leininger said.
Purdue and TCU have offered Leininger.
