Leifheit reflects on trip to Knoxville

Four-star offensive tackle T.J. Leifheit out of Wilmington (N.C.) Hoggard took his first official visit this past weekend. The 6-foot-7, 300-pounder made his way to Knoxville to check out Tennessee.
"It was outstanding," he said. "I got down there about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. I went to the game and after the game was over I went out to dinner and ate with the coaches.
"Then at night, I hung out with the players including my host Ben Bartholomew. It was good hanging out with him. He just talked about how fun it was and how he relates to the players and stuff like that."
Obviously a big part of the trip was the UCLA-Tennessee game. Leifheit gave his thoughts.
"The atmosphere was amazing with 100,000-plus fans," he said. "They were weighing in on every single play. It was a great game and came right down to the end.
"I definitely got to see how the offensive line is. I really liked how Coach Cregg coaches the line throughout the game. He makes adjustments and they make calls at the line and communicate well."
Following the game, Leifheit spent time with a number of the coaches including Cregg, Reaves, Orgeron and Lane Kiffin.
"I liked how much experience they have," he said. "They've been through some of the biggest things and coached in the NFL.
"I did talk to Coach Kiffin on Sunday for a bit. That was great too. I always enjoy talking to him. Normally we talk every week or two. I already got a chance to talk to him in the spring on an unofficial. It was just like normal. Overall the trip blew me away."
What's next for the No. 9 prospect in North Carolina?
"My next official is to North Carolina on October 10th," he said. "I'm still in the process of scheduling more visits to USC, Florida State and LSU."
Leifheit and Hoggard are 2-2 on the year.
"The season is going alright," he said. "We got nicked twice early in the season. I've improved. The weight room in the offseason has definitely shown."
