LeGrone follows Frost, signs with Nebraska

Katerion LeGrone committed to UCF first, but not long after Scott Frost took the Nebraska job, the 6-foot-3, 220 pound wide receiver out of Atlanta (Ga.) B.E.S.T. Academy re-opened his recruitment.

From there, he took an official visit to Lincoln on December 20, the first day of the Early Signing Period, he announced he is a Husker.

It took just one visit to Nebraska, but it was really about Frost for LeGrone.

"I knew I was going to Nebraska the minute coach Frost told me he wanted me there," said LeGrone. "I was about 90-percent then and as soon as I took the visit, it made it 100-percent.

"I have a great relationship with coach Frost and my position coach, coach [Sean] Beckton. They were big in my decision. I felt good about following those guys without even seeing Nebraska.

"I know they can put me in a good position to be successful."

LeGrone did not know what to expect when he left Atlanta for Lincoln last weekend, but he was very happy with what he saw.

"I was surprised with how it was out there. I was expecting some country-type of vibe, but it was nice. It still had the city feel to it and I liked the downtown area too.

"It was not what I expected to be honest. I really liked it."

He liked it so much that before he left, he gave the news to the Nebraska coaching staff. Frost was excited, but he likely wasn't shocked with the news.

"I told him before I left to come back home that I was all in with him and Nebraska," said LeGrone. "I think he had an idea it was coming. Maybe he was a little surprised, but I kind of think he was expecting it.

"Coach Beckton and I had already been talking about it and I feel good about it."

The new Husker was all smiles when he was in Lincoln and it was like looking in the mirror when he was around Frost. The new Nebraska head coach wasn't unhappy in Orlando, but something about going back to his alma mater may bring a little different feeling.

"He seemed a little more happy to be honest. I would say he loves Nebraska a little more than UCF. He was great at UCF, that is why I committed to him, but he was a little different out there.

"It is his hometown and I don't think he could be more excited about what is going to happen there."
