Leffler back from Stanford

For those who regularly keep up with recruiting and trends that have developed over time, one look at the finalists on the list of Brian Leffler might produce surprise.
It's not very often that you see a three-star prospect that has narrowed his list to such a diverse group of schools as Stanford, West Virginia, William & Mary and Yale.

That's where the 6-foot, 215-pound linebacker stands today, however, and after his trip to the west coast he's as torn as ever.
"It (the visit to Stanford) was good, really good," Leffler said on Monday. "It was good to see California because it's a lot different than the east coast. It was a good experience."
Leffler had already taken official visits to West Virginia and William & Mary. How would he compare those trips to one another?
"They were a lot different. On my other two visits there were me and like three other recruits. There were like thirty guys on this visit. It was cool getting to meet a lot of the guys that are committed, because you see who you would be spending the next four or five years with.
"It was tough to get a lot of individual meeting time with the coaches because of all the players, though. I did talk to coach (David) Shaw, who recruits New Jersey, and coach (Andy) Buh, who coaches the linebackers. I spoke briefly with coach (Jim) Harbaugh and got a good feeling from him."
Leffler has one visit remaining, and he doesn't expect to wait around until Signing Day to make his decision.
"I'm going to Yale this weekend and I'll commit soon after that," he said. "I think that's the plan. I'll just be able to compare my options by then, so I should be ready a couple of days after the Yale visit.
"Academics are going to be important but there are a lot of things going into it. I've got to be comfortable at the school without football. With college football coaches, you never know what's going to happen."
Leffler said the four schools remaining on his list are even at this point.
