Lee looking to hit the road

After a disappointing finish last year, Dymond Lee has been too busy preparing for his senior season to worry about recruiting this spring.
The four-star wide receiver from West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade visited locals UCLA and USC to check out their practices last month, but that's been about the only bit of activity on his behalf. A bevy of coaches have dropped by recently to check on Lee, though, as he prepares to hit the road in the next half year.

"Recruiting is going well for now," Lee said. "I'm pretty happy with how everything is shaping up. I'm still gathering information because I don't know yet where exactly I want to be.
"I have some ideas of what I'd like to be doing the next few years, like studying sports medicine and stuff like that, but I also plan on playing for a top university and one that is ready to compete for a championship. I want to help the team as much as I can wherever I go, so it's about picking the perfect fit."
Lee is up to 11 scholarship offers heading into the summer, and he said Arizona and Arizona State could be close to joining that list. The Bruins have been perhaps the most aggressive suitor and Lee has already established a good rapport with the coaching staff.
"With UCLA, it's been nice and steady communication," Lee said. "I've called them a few times and spoken with coach (Eric) Yarber, who is the main one I've been talking to. They're looking at me mostly for receiver, and I've just been getting to know the coaches. It has been a nice process because they're all nice guys.
"I went to one of their spring practices and I could see myself there. It felt like home because they run a lot of the same stuff we do at Chaminade. It wouldn't be a hard transition."
UCLA, though, has the advantage of being the only school he holds an offer from that Lee has visited. That is going to change in the coming months.
"I plan to visit all the schools that have offered me so far, but if I don't get the opportunity to visit everywhere, I would at least like to visit the local schools again," Lee said. "I'm not really sure when I'm going to make a decision. I would like to take all five official visits, though, because I know once you commit, coaches don't really like you going out and talking to other schools. I might have to wait on a commitment so I can take in as much information before making a decision."
There is one school Lee definitely knows he wants to visit given what he has heard from his former quarterback, Brad Kaaya.
"Right now, I definitely want to get out to Miami," Lee said. "It's on the other side of the country and I'm not really going to get to see that too often. I don't know what to really think, so I would like to go out there and really experience it for myself. Brad says he loves it over there. They have a fast-paced offense and all the guys are rowdy. They play hard and it's an environment I could see myself in, but I'm not sure at the moment."
Colorado is another school to watch in his recruitment, especially with his brother, Donovan, already a part of that program.
Lee caught 33 passes for 616 yards and two touchdowns as a junior last season, and also played some quarterback for Chaminade.
