Lee lands his first offer

Defensive end Devante Lee has had to sit and watch several of his Chicago Simeon teammates reel in scholarship offers over the last several months, but this week it was the 6-foot-6, 230-pound Lee's turn to celebrate.
San Diego State became the first school to offer the class of 2013 defensive end, tendering him a scholarship on Monday.

"This was definitely a surprise offer… it just came up," Lee said. "They called me first and I gave them my coach's number. He told me they were going to offer me, and then they called me again and that's when they offered."
Lee's initial reaction to landing his first of was, "It's about time." He was not expecting the first school to offer to be from the West Coast, but he is definitely open to the opportunity.
"It's about getting an education and whether that's out west or out east, I'm going to go there," Lee said. "I know some of their school history and I know Marshall Faulk came from there. It seems like a really nice place."
The next step in Lee's recruitment with San Diego State will be taking an official visit, and he will be discussing that with the Aztec's coaching staff on Sunday.
