Donovan Lee is planning his official visit to Colorado for this weekend and it could finalize a decision that has been coming for a while.
The Buffaloes are considered the big-time favorite for the West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade three-star recruit. No other visits are planned yet. He has a teammate, Rick Gamboa, already committed there. And Lee said he loved his unofficial visit to Boulder.
"I have my official visit to Colorado set up for this weekend," Lee said. "That's the only one I have set up so far. We'll see how it goes. I loved it the last time I went out there. Having my teammate Rick committed there already doesn't make it hard to do.
"They have a winning mentality. They know how to win and with the right guys coming in with our class, they could turn that whole program around the next few years."
So far, Lee, who could play running back or cornerback, has been offered by Colorado, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Idaho, San Jose State and Wyoming.
Because his West Hills Chaminade team is still in the playoffs, Lee said the only trip he has scheduled so far is to Colorado.
"I'll wait until after that and the state game hopefully to schedule others," Lee said.
Chaminade is coming off a huge upset over Gardena (Calif.) Serra last weekend. After losing by 36 points earlier in the season, Lee's team pulled off a three-point win on a last-second field goal to advance in the playoffs.
"This win, I can't even describe what it means to us," Lee said. "We've been working toward the same goal since I came in as a freshman with a lot of these guys - Rick, Jojo (McIntosh), (Brad) Kaaya - all of us had the same goal of playing this team since JV year. It was great to get this win with these guys."
