Leader for South Florida DE

David Gilbert is one of the top defensive prospects from South Florida. Gilbert, 6-4 and 214 pounds, is from Oakland (Fla.) Northeast High School. Right now he has a school leader and he has also set up two official visits.
"Central Florida is my leader at this time," Gilbert said. "It's an up and coming school and program. I feel real comfortable there and I think I fit in well.

"I also like Wisconsin and Connecticut. I will visit UConn (9-13) and Wisconsin (10-4) for sure. I am also very interested in Kentucky and Louisville but I have not set up anything to them yet. I am not sure who else I will visit but it will be after the season is over."
Gilbert will go both ways this fall, playing defensive end and tight end. He has high expectations of the upcoming season.
"We just finished two-a-days this past Friday. We had a lot of rain delays but we got nice things done,. But I know we still have some work to do.
"I know that I will be playing some tight end this season. I am excited catching the football and blocking too. Football is football and I just want to help team win.
"This season I want 80 tackles, I want to beat Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard and Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely, and I want to win district."
