Leach impressed Texas DB on visit

Longview, Texas, three-star cornerback Corderra Hunter took his first official visit to Texas Tech this weekend, and it was a visit that he is going to remember for a number of different reasons. But the biggest reason is Red Raider coach Mike Leach and his famous card tricks.
“Coach Leach taught me a few neat card tricks,” Hunter, the three-star cornerback that is 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, said. “He called it a test to see if I could be a Red Raider. He would move the cards around, bend them and shuffle them all over the place. I would then have to pick a card and tell him if it was red or black. Every time I would get it right. Whatever I would say it would be right.

“I thought it was really funny, and that helped me relax around him.”
Hunter said he had a great time on his official visit. He said he wasn’t tempted to commit, but left campus with a great impression of the entire Red Raider program, despite a loss to Texas on the field.
“I got to hang out with the other recruits, and they were all having a great time,” Hunter said. “I also met Robert Johnson, who’s going to be their quarterback next year. Everybody is telling me about how nasty he is on the field. That would be impressive to play with a guy like that.”
However, Hunter said he’s not going to do anything until he makes an official visit to Oklahoma.
“I’m going to go up there to OU with Malcolm (Kelly),” Hunter said. “I want to check them out before I do anything.”
Hunter and his teammates battle North Mesquite this Friday night in game that might actually have somebody challenge Hunter’s pass defending skills.
“Nobody is throwing my way,” Hunter said. “North Mesquite throws, and I hope they come at me. I’m going to be ready for it.”
