Lea grabs first offer

New Orleans (La.) Landry-Walker 2015 defensive lineman George Lea stands in at 6-foot-2 and 260-pounds, and he was quick and explosive up and down the defensive line in his junior season.
He earned all-district, all-metro, and all-state honors, and helped Landry-Walker to an 11-2 season and a deep run through the playoffs.

"It was a good experience. We had some rough times but at the end of the day we became one team. It was pretty good though," Lea said. "My best experience was being able to compete for my spot and not having it given to me and working hard coming to practice every day and being dedicated."
College coaches took notice of his efforts and he has attracted the attention of LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and South Florida. He also picked up his first offer from Arizona State.
"I'll be going to college for free," Lea said. "It was a good experience. When I heard it I called everybody."
He has yet to talk much with the Arizona State coaches but he likes what he does know.
"They're nice," Lea said. "They have a nice personality."
He is keeping an open mind, but he does plan to hit the road on a few visits before too long.
"I haven't talked to my coach yet, but probably this summer I'll go on some visits and probably next year during the school year because I'm going to be able to graduate a little earlier," Lea said. "I'm going to do some college visits probably in the spring too."
This spring, Lea is also preparing to attend the Rivals Camp Series in New Orleans on February 22.
