LB waiting on that special offer

Three-star linebacker Luke Laolagi (6-1, 205, 4.6) from Lake Balboa (Calif.) Birmingham is on the fast-track of linebacker prospects on the west coast. He already has two offers on the table and plenty of schools waiting for a couple of his senior games before tendering an offer.
“Luke still gets letters all the time,” Sam Laolagi, Luke’s father said. “He received seven from Washington in one day.”

The Huskies aren’t the only Pac-10 team showing Laolagi love. According to the elder Laolagi, his son is hearing for the entire league and he’s on the short list of linebackers on every team in the Pac-10.
“Every Pac-10 school has Luke on their board as one of the top five linebackers on their list,” the elder Laolagi said. “We hear from everyone Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona – the whole Pac-10.”
Laolagi has offers on the table from Utah and San Jose State.
Laolagi was recently named as the number one linebacker prospect in his area by the Los Angeles Daily News.
In the same Daily News article we are reminded how when Laolagi was just a sophomore and playing on same field three other D-I caliber linebackers, he was the standout linebacker on the field when Birmingham won the City title two years ago.
UCLA has the inside track for his services and if the Bruins offer Laolagi’s days on the recruiting trail will come to a swift end.
Laolagi will be in attendance at UCLA’s opener this weekend when the Bruins host Oklahoma State.
In an earlier interview with Birmingham head coach Ed Croson he has this to say about his star linebacker, “Luke is big, fast and also has an outstanding understanding of the game. He reads offensive schemes extremely well and doesn’t waste any steps.”
“Luke is a playmaker,” Croson said. “He makes a ton of plays. When were on Fox for the game of the week against Taft he had something like 20 tackles.”
“Luke had that amount of tackles in about three games last season,” Croson said. “That’s the kind of player he is, he’s just so quick to the ball and has a nose for it.”
“As a football player and as an athlete,” Croson said. “Luke is in the same class as (former Birmingham greats) Dennis Keyes (UCLA), Chad Green (ASU) and Ramal Porter (SDSU).”
“To give you an idea of how talented an athlete Luke is,” Croson said. “He was getting looks for his baseball skills by major league baseball during his sophomore year.”
“Luke has given up baseball in favor of football,” Croson said. “He has a great future in football.”
This talented linebacker is a two-time all-city selection.
