Moncks Corner (S.C.) Berkeley linebacker Ryan Brown is a big man who could make a big impact early in his college career. The question is, which college program will he be impacting?
"I'm still open and anyone that has offered is still being considered -- even some schools that haven't offered. I would say that Florida and South Carolina are out in front right now, but things could change.
"I went to the South Carolina game this past weekend and it was really fun and all. I’m supposed to go to the Florida-South Carolina game this weekend. I think it will give me a good opportunity to see my two favorites play against each other.
"South Carolina and Florida are right there together because they are both recruiting me really hard. Coach Strong is the guy from South Carolina recruiting me. He is a really good guy and I've gotten to know him pretty well. Growing up in South Carolina I'm really familiar with the program and what they're all about and he just keeps telling me that I can commit any time I want, but that I can take my time with my decision. He told me my offer would be there no matter what.
"Coach Fedora from Florida is doing a really good job also. He has been trying to get me to come down there for a while and I'm finally going down there this weekend. We will also probably try and get my official set up next time I talk to him. He told me that since I was from South Carolina he wanted me to take several trips down there to see what their program is about because I'm obviously more familiar with the program at South Carolina."
The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Brown has been considered a strong lean to South Carolina for quite some time and many feel like he could commit before Christmas, but Brown told us differently.
"I will not announce anything until signing day. There is a 40-percent chance I will sign with Florida, a 40-percent chance I will sign with South Carolina, and 20-percent chance I shock everyone and go somewhere else. Even if I have made up my mind before then I don't plan on announcing until signing day."
Brown is also considering Penn State, Tennessee, Florida State and Miami for visits.
