LB still pleased with Pittsburgh

Charlotte (N.C.) Charlotte Country Day two-star inside linebacker Max Gruder had a year to remember. The 6-foot-2, 227-pounder earned a nice group of offers from Rice, Western Michigan and Pittsburgh before committing to the Panthers in mid-November.
He then helped his team to the state championship game.

"We lost in a last minute-type deal," Gruder said. "There were a lot of plays that went their way that if they had gone our way we would have won. It was just one of those things. It was the second time we played them. We beat them earlier and then they got us in the title game."
But it was still a season to remember.
"I ended up with 115 tackles," Gruder said. "It was a little less than last year, but I did that with missing two games because of an injury. So I was pleased with how it went."
He is also still pleased with his decision to commit to Pittsburgh.
"I'm solid on Pitt," he said. "I went to the N.C. State home game last week, but that was just because it was close to home. They don't have a coach now any ways. I'm excited about Pittsburgh. I love Pittsburgh.
"I'm going up there on my visit Jan. 12."
