LB rising up the charts

Miami (Fla.) Coral Reef linebacker Eric Houston is one of the faster rising prospects in the Sunshine State. He has several impressive offers already to his credit and is hoping to add more.
“Right now I have offers from Pittsburgh, Northwestern, Central Florida, West Virginia, Boston College and I actually got a letter in the mail today from Kansas State saying they were offering.”

Houston is a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds, has a 285-pound bench press and 435-pound squat.
“I am looking for a school that has good tradition and is going to win a lot of games,” Houston said. “I would like to go somewhere that I can play early. I would also like to get a good education. My plan is to take all of my visits and make a decision after the season is over.”
He stated that he was unsure of his statistics as a junior, but did manage 80 tackles as a sophomore. During this year’s Spring Jamboree he had six solo tackles and a forced fumble in a 14-7 loss to South Miami.
“I feel like Florida is close to offering,” Houston said. “They are recruiting me harder than most of the schools that have offered. They said that they just want to see me in a few games my senior season. I am expecting to get a lot more offers once my senior season gets started.”
He attended camps at Miami, Florida State and Rutgers. At the Miami camp he was given the award of top linebacker.
