LB Porter sets first official visit

Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park three star ranked defensive end prospect Sam Porter (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) wrapped up his outstanding senior season last Saturday night, as the Mustangs lost to Cary-Grove 21-14 in the Class 7A state semifinals.
“It still hurts but I'm feeling better today," Porter said. "We picked a really bad time to play our worst game of the year on Saturday. Gotta give Cary credit as well, they made the big play when they had to make it."

Porter has already begun to look back on his senior season with fond memories.
"We tried to represent for the entire Chicago Public League in the state playoffs this year. We tried to play at the same level as the suburban schools, and I feel that hopefully we've shown the rest of the state that football in the CPL is getting better and better. I have some great memories from this season, but I would say that our trip to play East St. Louis in the state playoffs was the best memory. It was a great trip and we had fun together as a team, then to pull out an exciting win down there was the best part of all."
Porter fills us in on his latest recruiting news.
"I've set an official visit to Ball State on December 3rd. I'm also thinking about taking an official visit to Eastern Michigan on December 10th to Eastern Michigan, but I haven't set that date up just yet. I'm hoping to take 3-4 official visits before I make my final college choice."
"I'm thinking about taking an official visit to one or two Big Ten schools. Both Minnesota and Michigan State have picked things up and they have been hinting about offering me an official visit."
Yet despite the increased recruiting interest from the Big Ten schools, is Ball State still the team to beat for Porter?
"Playing at Ball State would give me a chance to ball with some of my friends. Byron (Miles) is already there, and several of my teammates have talked about all playing together in college and Ball State has offered us all. We've been balling together since the 5th grade, so it's something we've talked about quite a bit. It would be pretty cool to get that Morgan Park pipeline going at Ball State."
