Chicago (Ill.) Morgan Park three star ranked defensive end prospect Sam Porter (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) has ended his recruiting process today and has given Ball State University his verbal commitment. Porter will join teammate Phillip Brown in the Cardinals 2005 recruiting class. Brown made his verbal commitment to Ball State earlier today.
"I had just a great visit this weekend to Ball State," Porter said. "I decided that after this visit I wanted to be a part of the Cardinals program, so I gave the coaches my verbal commitment."

Porter talked about his weekend visit as well as why he chose Ball State University.
"I decided to verbal to Ball State for several reasons, reasons that became very clear during my official visit this weekend. First of all, I get a really strong feeling and a family atmosphere at Ball State. The coaches and the players get along really well. I also am really impressed with the coaches at Ball State, they are all straight forward guys and they are great to be around. I also feel that I'll get a chance to play early at Ball State."
"My official visit just went really well. The coaches were impressive, and they really went out of their way to make myself and my Dad feel as comfortable as possible. That really impressed me. Ball State really recruited me the hardest out of every school that had offered me. They sent me a ton of hand-written mail all the time and always stayed in touch. I'm a solid verbal commit to Ball State University."
Porter will also join teammate Phillip Brown at Ball State. Brown also gave the Cardinals his verbal commitment this weekend.
"I can't even describe the feeling I have right now with Phil playing along side of me in college. We've been ballin since the 5th grade, and having him on the same team in college is just incredible. He's like my brother, and were going to build a brother hood together again at Ball State just like we did at Morgan Park."
Porter decided on the Cardinals after heavy consideration towards Bowling Green, Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan.
Porter in the meantime is working hard in the weight room this off season, but also took time to enjoy his Thanksgiving weekend.
"I had a really good Thanksgiving with my family. I think I added a few pounds no doubt, but you can't help but do that in this house on Thanksgiving."
