Manchester (N.H.) Manchester Central linebacker Dave Philistin committed to Maryland during the summer, but took an official visit to West Virginia this weekend. Is the three-star standout looking around?
"I went to West Virginia to compare things and it was a pretty good visit," said the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder. "In fact, it was a great visit, but I'm still committed to Maryland. It is a nice atmosphere and they have a good program."
Next up for Philistin is his official visit to Maryland.
"That's this weekend," he said. "I committed to Maryland out of camp, but I never really got to see the whole campus and everything. I'm looking forward to comparing it to West Virginia. I gave my word to Maryland and I'm sticking to that, but you never know."
One school that could get an official out of Philistin is Ohio State if they offered.
"I've always been interested in them," he said. "They're still recruiting me, but haven't offered me yet. If they did offer, I'd visit."
Would any local teams that offered like Boston College or UConn get a look?
"They stopped recruiting me after I committed," he said. "So I don't think so."
Maryland was unaware of Philistin's visit plans.
"I didn't tell them," he said. "I didn't think it would be a big deal."
