LB Meyers visits South Bend

Greenwich, Conn. linebacker Jonathan Meyers made the visit to South Bend last weekend. Heading into the visit Florida was his leader, did Notre Dame improve their chances for the 6-foot-1, 215-pounder?
"It went really well, I enjoyed myself up there," he stated. "I got there the day before the junior day. I got to get a feel for the campus and went out to dinner in town. It's a beautiful campus and it's everything a college should look like. I was really impressed with the football facilities, they are incredible.

"On Sunday, I met early with the coaches. I got to know them better including my recruiting coach Powlus and defensive coordinator Corwin Brown. I really like him and the scheme they run. He's got that pro mentality and he even singled me out about coming off the edge for them."
At this point, Meyers still doesn't hold an offer from the Irish.
"I don't have an offer yet, but they did just see my tape in the past week," he said. "It sounds like I should be expecting an offer pretty soon hopefully."
Where do the Irish stand now for the Connecticut linebacker?
"Well before Florida was leading and they are still high in my mind, but Notre Dame is too," he said. "I think I'll have to go back to both schools to get a better idea."
Speaking of Florida, the Gators offered Meyers a couple weeks back.
"I got the offer two weeks ago and was really pumped about that," he said. "I've grown up with the Gators and they are the No. 1 football school in the country. I've been there plenty of times and I want to go back and get a feel for the campus."
In the near future Meyers plans to take visits to Penn State and Boston College.
Alluding to a potential decision on the horizon, when does the junior linebacker want to make a decision?
"I kind of want to focus on school and lacrosse," he said. "In the near future, I'd like to get stuff out of the way and at least clear things up and know who I'm focusing on. I don't think I want to make an official visit in the next month though."
