LB McAndrew lands his first offer

Glen Ellyn, Illinois defensive end/tight end prospect Tom McAndrew (6-foot-5, 235 pounds) has been traveling the East Coast this week, and one of McAndrew's stops garnered him his first scholarship.
“I was at Boston College on Monday," Tom McAndrew said. “I was able to check out a practice at BC as well as getting a chance to talk to the coaches, and they offered me a scholarship. The coaches mentioned that they really liked what they saw of me on tape, so they offered. I'm really excited about getting an offer from Boston College. I was able to get a good feeling for the campus and the football program. I also was able to talk to tight end Trey Kosiol, who I know from when he played at Hinsdale Central. I came away with a very good feeling about Boston College."
McAndrew, who plays inside linebacker for the Hilltoppers, also is still uncertain about which position the Eagles are recruiting him for. "I talked to both the tight ends coach as well as the defensive line coach, and they both mentioned that they were both interested. Position-wise I have no real preference, I just want to play."
McAndrew, who called from the road, has already made visits to both Michigan State and Syracuse. "Both Michigan State and Syracuse visits went well. Each school said that they are going to actively recruit me, and I really enjoyed both visits." McAndrew added that, "I'm really glad we decided to make this trip. It's been a lot of driving, but I've also been able to get a much better feeling for some of the schools that are recruiting me."
Next up on the McAndrew spring tour? "Tomorrow (Thursday) I'm heading to Pitt, then Indiana and finally I'll wrap up with a visit to Notre Dame on Saturday."
