LB Longa is an emerging prospect

Saddle Brook, N.J., linebacker Steve Longa now has verbal offers from five schools and if you're looking for a prospect on the rise in the East region he might be one to watch.
At 6-foot-1 and 207-pounds Longa has all the athleticism a coach could want in a linebacker. While he will need to continue to pack on the pounds he has all the tools to excel in coverage once he reaches the college ranks and he performed well at the recent Nike Training Camp held at Rutgers.

In fact, he won the MVP award for the linebacker group.
Rutgers, FIU, Western Michigan, Temple and Maryland are the five schools that have offered Longa. He has already visited three of them.
"I've been to Rutgers, Maryland and Temple," Longa reported on Wednesday evening.
"Rutgers was good. I got to talk to the coaches and they all seem nice. I got to watch them practice. I watched their defense a little bit. They were trying to run some things and I was seeing if I could fit in.
"Maryland went well. I talked to the head coach (Randy Edsall) and watched the defense, just like at Rutgers. I was at one of their spring practices so I watched them scrimmage each other.
"At Temple I sat with the head coach and talked. He told me about the need they have at the linebacker position," he concluded.
Longa said he doesn't have any favorites yet as he wants to take more visits before he makes that judgment. It will be important for him to see how he interacts with the players already in each respective program.
Boston College, Minnesota, UConn, Syracuse and Bowling Green are other schools showing serious interest.
