Notre Dame is trying to re-tool their defense and the commitment of outside linebacker Jeremiah Owusu will definitely help with the transition. The Hampton (Va.) Bethel star picked the Fighting Irish over Michigan State.
IN HIS OWN WORDS…
"Notre Dame is a great opportunity on and off the field," Owusu said. "They have great coaches and experienced coaches. I love the atmosphere up there. I met the players and they're all on the same page. Everybody up there wants to win the National Championship and get their degree. It's one of the best schools in the country when it comes to academics and they've been there and done that athletically.
"With their new defensive coordinator, it's going to be a whole new defense," he said. "When it comes to their depth chart, nobody has a spot right now. They're changing to the 4-2-5 so every position is up for grabs. My position will be rover or outside linebacker."
Notre Dame's defense is going to benefit tremendously from Owusu's athleticism. The former Virginia commit has no problem moving in space and tracking down the ball. Owusu's versatility will be a major asset to Mike Elko when he's game planning and putting different packages together.
