LB holding steady with offers from two

Linebacker Cory Chappell has plenty of time to narrow down his list, set up visits, and figure out which school is the best opportunity for his abilities.
The 6-foot-2, 201-pounder holds two offers from Texas Tech and New Mexico State, but isn't looking to make any recruiting noise at this moment. His time table will allow him to look at other schools as more offers start to come in.

"I'll narrow things down as the season progresses," Chappell said about his recruitment plan. "The two offers I have I'm definitely interested in equally. I'm planning on seeing both of those schools after my season, when I get a break from all the games and stuff."
With two offers, many wonder if one school is leading the other.
"I'm not really favoring either one," Chappell said. "It's early in the year, so I'm not planning on making any sort of list or narrowing things down just yet. I've been keeping in touch with both coaching staffs and we're going from there."
LSU, Princeton, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, UCLA, and Columbia have shown interest towards the No. 31 prospect in the state of Louisiana. Chappell is trying to find out who is really interested and who is just making contact.
"It was weird because Northwestern came down to my school when I was on a trip to Boston, met with my coach, and everything looked good there," Chappell said. "Then I didn't get a call from them or UCLA in the month of May. I don't know what's going on there."
One thing that his two offers have in common is an academic program that he's impressed with in his degree of study.
"Texas Tech has an engineering program that I liked," he said. "At the same time, the engineering program at New Mexico State is also good so that's great for someone like me that wants to make that my focus of study."
