LB Hawkins takes an unofficial

Baltimore (Md.) Dunbar linebacker Ernest Hawkins pulled his first offer a month ago from the Big Ten. Now, the 6-foot-2, 220-pounder is hearing from more schools and took one unofficial recently.
"Purdue has offered and I've talked to Maryland, Towson, Old Dominion and Iowa," he said. "They're interested. I'm going to go out to a couple games this season, not right now though.

"I'm trying to go up to Purdue soon."
Hawkins took one trip not long ago to Maryland when they hosted Miami.
"I liked it, they are good and they switched up their style on defense," he said. "They were the best uniforms. I just liked the flag on them."
Still, Purdue is the only scholarship out and Hawkins gave his take.
"I like them, I know it's a big academic school and a nice spot," he said. "It's different from where I'm used to, but I'm interested in trying something new."
As his recruiting rises and he considers his options, Hawkins broke down what he wants in a college.
"Just academics," he said. "I want them for my major after football, I'm looking at sports medicine. I'm also looking at the defense, what defense they run, I want to be more of a linebacker that stands up."
Meanwhile, Hawkins is headed into the fourth game of the seasn.
"I'm playing great on defense, making a lot of tackles," he said. "I'm more focused on defense and I always play with a chip on my shoulder, but I just want to show everyone still what type of player I am this year and stand out."
