One of Virginia's top linebackers already has an offer from the hometown Cavs. But that doesn't mean he's ready to count anyone out just yet.
DeVonta Brown is a 6-foot-2, 230 pound linebacker from Charlottesville, Va. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds and has great instincts as an inside linebacker.
"I don't really have any favorites," said Brown. "I'm open to everyone who is interested in me. I don't want to count anyone out if they're going to offer me a free education. Virginia has already offered me and that's nice since they're so close to home. Staying around here would be nice but it probably won't be the biggest factor. I'm going to judge each school by what it offers me in terms of academics and football."
Last year Brown had seven sacks and two interceptions at linebacker. He's hearing from some of the top programs in the region.
"Besides Virginia I'm hearing from Maryland, Penn State, North Carolina, Clemson and some other schools like that," he said. "They're all showing interest in me and I feel like some of them will offer me before long. About two or three months ago is when things started to pick up for me, and that's when UVA offered.
"I don't have a timeline for when I'm going to make my decision. I want to let this play out, probably until Signing Day. I want to know all of my options before I commit to anyone, so I won't look back and wonder what things could have been like."
