“I took my ACT test on Saturday, and Illinois had a junior day today," Ryan Bain said. “I think I did pretty well on the ACT. Illinois had a junior day, so I made the trip down to Champaign. Overall it went pretty well. I saw a lot of kids from different states who were there. I also had a chance to talk to both linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen and defensive coordinator Mike mallory. I really like those guys and we had a very good talk."
Bain, who already has an early scholarship offer from Oregon, also had a good discussion with head coach Ron Turner. "I was also able to talk to Ron Turner quite a bit, and Illinois hasn't offered me yet but I have a really good feeling about Illinois as well as my chance for landing an offer from them."
As far as recruiting interest, Bain is receiving hand-written mail from several schools on a daily basis. "Just about all of the mail that I'm getting now is hand-written, and I'm also getting hand-written mail from just about every major conference. The Mid-American conference schools are now starting to send hand-written letters. Several schools have requested tape, and I'll be getting that tape out starting this week."
So does Bain have any additional spring plans? "I'm planning on going to Iowa for the spring game, and I'm also going to check out Notre Dame, most likely for a practice."
